Principal’s Message

Last Friday’s Spring Show was a great success.  Mrs. Grady had prepared the students and the teachers well for the different pieces.  A large appreciative crowd was present and expressed their delight in the program.  Mrs. Grady’s entire family supported her and the school in many different roles.  Her husband, her children, and her parents were present and contributed to the show’s success with behind the scenes assistance.  The musical arrangements varied from early twentieth century tunes to Elvis Presley (yes, Elvis made an appearance!) to the grand finale.  It was a night to remember Holy Name School’s final year.  Thank you to all who participated.

Our pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students along with their parents and teachers celebrated the end of the school year with ceremonies on Monday June 15, 2009.  Mrs. Ruell, Mrs. Chaput, Mrs. Judd, and Mrs. Brodeur prepared the celebrations.  They send best wishes to each and every one of our students.  Father Mark blessed both groups.  Summer vacation began immediately for our pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students!

On Tuesday June 16, 2009, copies the final Holy Name School Yearbook were distributed to students who had purchased them in grades 1-7.  The Holy Name School Yearbook for this final year is a collectors’ item.  It represents 100 years of service to the community.  I would like to express my gratitude to Mrs. Laporte for the hours and hours that she and the eighth grade class spent preparing the book.

The final eighth grade graduation was held on Tuesday evening in the Church.  Father Mark gave a beautiful homily emphasizing opportunity and responsibility.  Congratulations to all of our eighth graders.  We wish them the best.  Also, thank you Ms. Curran for organizing the entire graduation.  It was a terrific event.

‘College for Kids’, a summer enrichment program for children in grades 2-11, will celebrate its 28th summer and full details on almost 50 available courses can be found at http://cbt.stcc.edu/collegeforkids/index.asp.  Interested parents should explore this website.

Tomorrow is the final day for our grades 1-7 students.  Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 am followed immediately by the final awards ceremony.  The Mass will be hosted by the staff of Holy Name School.  Regular classes will be held after Mass.  Report cards will be handed to the students to take to parents.  Any parents who wish to withdraw their children after the assembly are welcome to do so. Afternoon dismissal is at the normal time,  2:10 pm.

Please remember that our current afternoon EDP will be closing for the summer today on Thursday June 18, 2009.  So there will be no EDP tomorrow June 19th.  All unpaid balances must be paid by June 18th.

At this time, I would like to express my thanks for all of the cooperation and assistance that the entire Holy Name School community extended to me over the last three years.  I will always remember my time here.

                                                                                    As Always,

                                                                                    David J. Nortz
