We have continued on our journey through Latin America and South America. Once we knew the general landforms and major geography features of the areas, we began to closely study individual countries. Our visit to Mexico has ended and we are off to study the human geography of some countries of South America.
Country Project: Grade 7
Tour Guide
Requirements: A sales presentation (oral) 15-20 minutes
1. Choose any country in the world that interests you. Research and discover fascinating facts about the place you would like to visit.
2. Using the information you learn about your country, convince your classmates that it is a country worth visiting. Give reasons for the class, your future tourists, to travel to and vacation in the country you have chosen.
3. Be creative! Look at everything the tourist bureaus offer and the brochures show. Your “job” is to convince us tourists that your country is the best destination for our next trip. Help us learn about your country in a creative and fun way. What would draw tourists? Foods, historic sites, famous people, attractions, beautiful landscapes, interesting activities, sports, etc are only a few of the things that would attract people. Think. Try to keep the flag facts etc. to a minimum. Tourists are not going to travel long distances and spend money because of your national anthem.
4. You must dress as a famous person, a travel agent, the president or king, or any “character” that would properly represent the country.
5. You may also use posters, souvenirs, brochures etc. to make your “sales pitch”. The more YOU create, the better the presentation.
You will receive a grade for the presentation and a grade for the information given. Make sure they are both seventh grade quality.
