Here is some information on the use of verbs. Keep this in your notebook. IT will be a great refresher for now and next year.
What kinds of Spanish verbs are there? Regular verbs, irregular verbs, spelling-change verbs (the endings are regular, stem-changing verbs (the endings are regular), and reflexive verbs. What are regular verbs? They are verbs that do not change in spelling of the stem during conjugations, and follow a regular pattern. What is a verb infinitive? Verb infinitives are verbs that have not been conjugated. They are in a "none action state," such as to walk, to talk, to learn. Notice using the word "to." What is a verb conjugation? Verb conjugation is the process where the infinitive is changed in order to identify: 1. WHEN the action of the verb is taking place (called the verb TENSE) (ex. I see, you walk, they see) 2. WHO is performing the action (this is called the PERSON) (ex. I speak, he speaks, we speak, they speak) Why are verbs conjugated? Verbs are conjugated to determine two things: 1. WHO is performing the action of the verb (person) 2. WHEN the action is taking place. How are regular verbs conjugated: 1. Drop the verb ending (ar, er, ir) from the infinitive. (ex. Hablar: drop the ar, leaving only the stem 2. Add a new ending to the stem (ex. habl + o = hablo (I speak) How do I learn the endings of verbs and the use of the subject pronouns? Use verb boxes. Conjugate the verb in each separate box. An example of verb boxes/charts, can be found under your grade page on this website.
Where can I go to understand
what a verb, verb tense, subject noun/pronoun and noun gender are? Use
your Spanish book, and go to your English book: "Elements of Language."
Check any or all of the grammar, from Chapters 10 to the end. We have
studied, in all grades, all of these parts o
